Living Cheap in Retirement – The RV Lifestyle

Living cheap in retirement is possible when you live in an RV. It is not a sacrificial lifestyle either.

If you like to travel, like to be exposed to different areas of the US, RV travel may be for you. If you dislike the same daily regimen, don’t mind making new friends, RV travel may be your thing.

If you have never tried RVing I would suggest you talk to folks who have experience in the RV lifestyle. Visit campgrounds, become familiar with the various types of vehicles.

They start with pop up campers costing less than 5K and go to 45 foot mobile palaces costing well over a million dollars. Somewhere in between is a vehicle just right for you.

If you are a pickup person, take a look at travel trailers. If you want a self contained larger unit, remember you can tow a car and have the flexibility to get around once you meet your destination.

Remember, it doesn’t matter how little you spend, you will see the same scenery that the million dollar coaches enjoy. Scenery costs the same for all…free.

Attend RV shows where the various types of units are on display and free for you to walk through. Wear shark repellent…the salesmen can be a bit much. If you find a rep that really knows his or her stuff, they can be a great source of info.

If at all possible try and rent an RV for a week. This is a prudent way to insure that the RV lifestyle is for you. It could save you thousands and heartache as well. I feel you will like this great way for cheap living in retirement, but go slow at first.

Among the features of this lifestyle are: no schedule; no alarm clocks; lots of outdoor cooking; friendly neighbors (you may have to move a bit to find them, but they are there); more activities than daylight; etc. You will be just as busy or just as secluded as you want. You are in control. It’s the way it should be…you are retired.

RV living is not for everyone, but for those who love the freedom it affords, it’s tough to beat.

Go ahead hit the road; it will take you where you want to go. The RV life is a great way for living cheap in retirement. Enjoy.
